You are welcome here

Worship is central to our faith. We have  no formal creed, no ritual, dogma, nor  liturgy. Instead, we gather in a circle of  communal silence, creating a space  where we listen attentively and expectantly for Divine guidance, both individually and corporately. We  believe every person is capable of  directly experiencing the Divine.

10 am - 11am Every Sunday, Virtual and In-person

We strive to respond in love, rather than react in fear; we seek both inward and outward peace in our daily lives; we are led to implement our concerns for the equal rights of all.

Many of us have been drawn to the Religious Society of Friends because of its dual commitment to Spiritual awareness and social action. Our meeting supports many charitable and non-profit organizations that strive for peace and justice, including the Community Mediation Centers of St. Mary’s and Calvert Counties, Project ECHO, local food pantries, and Community Ministries of Calvert. Patuxent Friends is a sponsoring partner of the Big Conversation in Dismantling Racism and Privilege in Southern Maryland.

Quaker Worship

Patuxent Friends Monthly Meeting was established in 1980 upon a strong current of Quaker Universalism. We, who are called Quakers or Friends, are members of the Religious Society of Friends.

Our fundamental belief is that there is that of the God in every person.

Our time together looks like

  • Sitting quietly together, listening for the still, small voice within;

  • Listening if someone is moved by the Spirit to speak;

  • Shaking hands when worship ends; and greeting those around us.

We carry the experience with us into our daily lives.

You are welcome to join us as you are. Dress as you feel comfortable.

There are Quakers (also known as Friends) of all ages, religious backgrounds, races, education, sexual orientations, gender identities, and classes.

Masks and social distancing required.
